YRT making other changes to service for the holidays
York Region Transit (YRT) will not be offering extended or free service on this New Year’s Eve.
According to a YRT press release, due to the current state of COVID-19 and restrictions on social gatherings, regular YRT service will be provided on Dec. 31, however service will not be extended or free like past years.
Also, service changes will take place on Jan. 3, like it did on Dec. 20 to adjust for the holiday season and the change in customer demand.
Route highlights for holiday service changes which were effective on Dec. 20 included the launch of the new rapidly viva stations on Yonge Street in Richmond Hill, and minor changes to Routes 7 Martine Grove and 165/165F Weston.
Seasonal changes were also made to Routes 50 Queensway and 760 Vaughan Mills, and the high school specials were suspended for holiday break.
On Jan. 3, the route highlights for service changes include:
Revised school connections for Routes 32, 81, 82, 83 and 86.
Various schedule changes for 400-series school specials due to low ridership.
Schedule changes to Route 107/107B Keele Street to meet customer demand.
