Markham, Vaughan, Aurora, Thornhill schools have new cases of COVID-19

Markham’s Cedarwood Public School has a new case of COVID-19, with five confirmed cases in total.

Five schools in Vaughan also have new cases.

In the York Region District School Board, an unnamed secondary school formerly known as Vaughan Secondary School reported three new cases of the virus, while Discovery Public School and Glen Shields Public School each have a new case.

In the York Catholic District School Board, Holy Jubilee Catholic Elementary School has a new confirmed case and one closed classroom and St. Jean de Brebeuf Catholic High School reported two confirmed cases and the closure of two classrooms.

Highview Public School in Aurora also has a new case.

In Thornhill, Stephen Lewis Secondary School has a new case and St. Elizabeth Catholic High School of YCDSB has one confirmed case and one closed classroom.

York Region Public Health says it will communicate directly with those who had contact with the cases. York Region District School Board and York Catholic District School Board will make sure that all appropriate measures are being taken.

Public Health reminds students and families not to enter school if they are feeling sick or have had close contact with a confirmed case or with someone who is showing symptoms of COVID-19.
