Aurora, Markham, Vaughan schools have new cases of COVID-19

Aurora Grove Public School reported a new case of COVID-19 on Dec. 9.

Three schools in Markham reported new cases on the same day.

Black Walnut Public School and Bur Oak Secondary School each have a case of COVID-19, and Milliken Mills High School has one new case, bringing the total confirmed cases to five, while the school remains open.

Five Vaughan schools of York Region District School Board have new cases.

Emily Carr Secondary School reported two new cases while Forest Run Public School and Joseph A. Gibson Public School each have one new case.

Another two schools, Vellore Woods Public School and Woodbridge Public School each have a new case and four confirmed cases in total.

Vaughan’s St. Jean de Brebeuf Catholic High School of York Catholic District School Board also reported a confirmed case and one classroom has been closed.

York Region Public Health says it will communicate directly with those who had contact with the cases. York Region District School Board and York Catholic District School Board will make sure that all appropriate measures are being taken.

Public Health reminds students and families not to enter school if they are feeling sick or have had close contact with a confirmed case or with someone who is showing symptoms of COVID-19.
