Aurora residents can celebrate Hannukah this month at two menorah lighting ceremonies hosted by the town and Chabad Aurora.
Both celebrations will take place on Dec. 13, with the first lighting ceremony being held at 4:30 p.m. and the second at 6:30 p.m.
Both events will be held at the town hall at 100 John West Way.
The celebrations will begin with the lighting of the menorah followed by celebratory foods, a fire juggling show and children’s crafts, the town said in a statement.
The lighting of the menorah is a symbol of the celebration of Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights.
It is an eight-day Jewish holiday celebrated each year to commemorate the rededication of the temple in Jerusalem in the second century BC. The festival is observed by the lighting of the menorah, which is the most recognizable symbol of Hanukkah.
Due to limited capacity and provincial COVID-19 guidelines, residents must preregister to attend the ceremony. Visit aurora.ca/menorahlighting for details.
Share your event photos on the town’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram channels using #AuroraMenorahLighting.
