You can get into the Christmas spirit with an afternoon of online seasonal storytelling and music hosted by Newmarket Public Library on Saturday, Dec. 12.

Master storyteller Brad Woods, who has performed at festivals, theatres, conferences, prisons, churches and pubs across North America and the U.K., will be accompanied by local singer Clara Fraschetti and storyteller Tim Greenwood.

All ages will enjoy the free online show, which features traditional tales, literary classics and personal stories told with wit and wisdom by Woods, a Guelph resident whose stories have been featured in broadcasts and publications that include CBC Radio 1 and The Globe and Mail, and on his CD, A Rag and Bones Christmas Album.

Woods is the recipient of the Alice Kane Award for Storytelling and has travelled to Lesotho, Africa to tell, trade and collect stories on behalf of  Bracelet of Hope.

Newmarket storyteller Tim Greenwood, who has been telling stories to family, in storytelling groups and in festivals for the past 25 years, will also be sharing a seasonal story.

“Join us for songs and stories to kick off the season,” said Woods. “This is a perfect opportunity for you, your friends, your family, your neighbours, your barista -- and anyone else who you think would like it -- to laugh, sing or simply sit and listen.”
