The York Regional Police Association (YRPA) and Jewel 88.5 FM have teamed up again this year to help make residents’ Christmas celebrations a little brighter.

Random Acts of Christmas allows residents across the region to nominate a person or a family who may be in need this holiday season, or someone who has had an exceptionally tough year.

The person making the nomination will need to provide a little bit of information about themselves, who they are nominating and why, as well as what the nominee needs this Christmas.

For example, it could be anything from Christmas gifts to put under the tree, or fixing a broken washing machine.

It could also be to pay their heating bill.

Random Acts of Christmas strives to help the most deserving people this Christmas, and to give them some extra holiday cheer.

The nomination period started on Nov. 2 and will run until Nov. 22, on Jewel885.com.

Anyone can submit a nomination for a family or person in York Region. Nominees may be a single parent working two jobs and having a hard time making ends meet, someone you know who has recently lost their job, or a family struggling with an illness or death.

The YRPA and the Jewel team will personally deliver gifts to the chosen nominees between Nov. 30 and Dec. 13.
