A school in Ontario’s York Region has been ordered to close after six students and three staff tested positive for COVID-19.

York Region District School Board says the closure is a result of the school struggling to find replacements for teachers who were told to self-isolate.

Elder’s Mills Public School in Vaughan, Ont., closed on Monday and is scheduled to reopen on Nov. 11.

The school board says students will be moved to virtual learning while teachers and educational assistants are self-isolating.

There are currently seven schools with COVID-19 outbreaks or cases in York Region.

The region says an outbreak is declared in a school when two or more cases are confirmed within a 14-day period, with at least one case possibly acquired in the school.
