WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?: $1.3M retaining wall going up along Wellington Street in Aurora

Construction is expected to continue into the spring of 2021

The region is replacing and improving the retaining wall and sidewalk on the north side of Wellington Street.

JUST THE FACTS:

Location: on the north side of Wellington Street, west, between McDonald and Haida drives;

The project, which started in early fall, is about 16 per cent complete and is expected to be completed in the spring of 2021. Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Work includes replacing the existing retaining wall to improve stability, widening the boulevard to accommodate a new bus stop and shelter, and reconstructing the sidewalk;

The budget for the project is about $1.3 million;

Traffic impacts: Wellington will remain open during construction, but the right turn lane from Wellington on to McDonald will be closed. The sidewalk between McDonald and Haida will be closed to pedestrians. Sidewalk on the south side of Wellington will remain open.
