Want to expand the supply of affordable housing in Richmond Hill? Any thoughts on allowing short-term rentals in the city? What’s your take on decreasing greenhouse gas emissions?
While the municipal office and council chambers remain closed due to COVID-19, the city is working to engage residents on important issues electronically.
Here are three separate online survey/events that members of the public are invited to participate in.
AFFORDABLE HOUSING
A virtual public open house is scheduled on Nov. 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. to discuss the need for the city's affordable housing strategy and options to consider within the strategy.
Residents will not only hear about the background study and options for the affordable housing strategy but also have an opportunity to share thoughts and ideas about how the city can work with the development community to increase the supply of affordable housing.
All are welcome to attend the session; however, pre-registration is required via the link below:

SHORT-TERM RENTALS
As the city undertakes a comprehensive review of the existing zoning bylaws, the public is asked to provide input to determine if and how short-term accommodations should be regulated under the Zoning Bylaw.
The 11-question survey make take a few minutes to complete.
There are other ways to help inform the city’s decision to update the zoning bylaws as below:
CLIMATE CHANGE
Should Richmond Hill set a target of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050? Residents are invited to respond to this one-question survey.
The respondents will have a chance to win a gift card. The survey closes Nov. 10.
