York Region should find ways to make housing more affordable

The term “affordable housing" is an impossibility nowadays.

How can my grandchildren ever afford a home? Moving north is a little more affordable, however two people commuting -- two cars, gas, wear and tear on vehicles, not to mention time spent commuting -- is costly and stressful. And what about when these young couples start families and have no family around to give them a hand? It doesn’t work for everyone!

It’s ridiculous that a semi-detached home is around the $1 million price tag. Salaries have not kept up.

I just looked into a condo in Woodbridge and a two-bedroom unit is $850,000! Give me a break!

There is no use trying to downsize if, in the end, you are no further ahead. York Region should try and keep these young families here by helping its residents instead of making the developers rich.
