I had the pleasure of joining the Future Majority virtual town hall for York Region with fellow students and local politicians on Thursday, Nov. 12. The politicians at the virtual event included MPs Deb Schulte (King-Vaughan) and Tony Van Bynen (Newmarket-Aurora), who showed concern about the issues presented.

Our focus was on current student issues affecting our everyday lives during the COVID-19 pandemic in York Region, including affordable education, job stability, climate change and mental health.

As a postsecondary student at Seneca’s King campus, I believe the politicians answered our needs and concerns.

York Region is home to one of Ontario’s largest and most diverse voting populations, and our opinions will be influential during the pandemic and in future elections.

Future Majority is a national non-profit organization that amplifies the concerns of young Canadians. I was honoured to be a part of this conscientious group of students.
