York Region municipalities are slated to receive more than $25 million, combined, in infrastructure funding through the new COVID Resilience infrastructure stream.

While the region is to receive about $12.3 million, bringing the total infrastructure investment to close to $38 million.

The province has invested about $1.05 billion into the federal infrastructure stream that will allow for more flexibility, expand project eligibility and accelerate approvals under the Canada Infrastructure Program.

To assist municipalities with COVID-19 recovery efforts, the new resilience stream is dedicated to local infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges and water and wastewater systems.
