Newmarket library partnerships ramp up online programming

With in-library programs on hold for a time, Newmarket Public Library has ramped up its online programming. Partnering with organizations such as Skills Ontario, Youthspeak, Canada Learning Code and Shadowpath Theatre, the library is helping to provide programs of interest to people of all ages.
“We are pleased to be able to offer our community a wide range of programs,” says Todd Kyle, the library’s CEO. “Many are partnerships with organizations that have the knowledge, experience and insight to make their programs truly worthwhile. Add to that our own library programs and there is plenty of great programming to choose from.”

How To Stay Fit At Home presented by Honsberger Physio+
How can you adapt to our new reality and stay fit at home? Join Sumya Khudadad of Honsberger Physio+ on Thursday, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. for a motivational discussion that will help you get started. What’s Out There In The Skilled Trades & Technologies presented by Skills Ontario

Shadowpath Theatre Classical Play Reading Club presents Florence by Alice Childress
Take a front row seat at home for Florence, our next live classical play reading by Shadowpath Theatre performers and local theatre enthusiasts on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. Florence is about a black woman in South Carolina who is getting ready to board a train to bring her daughter, a struggling actress, back home from New York. Written and performed in 1949, the play marked the beginning of an illustrious career in theatre for Alice Childress, the only African-American woman to have written and produced plays spanning four decades. Understanding Youth Mental Health presented by Youthspeak
Parents, educators and caring adults find out first-hand on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. how to support youth in this free online workshop by Youthspeak, a youth-led registered charity. Trained youth speakers will discuss how to engage in conversations about such issues as anxiety, depression, bullying, social media, and COVID-19. Healthy Homes: Understanding Healthy Relationships presented by Yellow Brick House
Yellow Brick House presents Healthy Homes: Understanding Healthy Relationships on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. This 60-minute workshop for adult newcomers and immigrants will be an interactive discussion about identifying the warning signs of abuse, how to get help if you or someone you know is a victim of abuse, and the importance of safety in our community.
