York Region entered the Red Zone Nov. 16 -- our last chance to 'flatten the curve' before we move into lockdown.
Here are three things you need to know:
1. Priorities remain education, work and essentials, so we can all still go to school, work, medical appointments and grocery stores -- with the usual COVID-19 precautions.
2. You can still dine in restaurants and bars and work out in gyms, but these establishments are restricted to a maximum of 10 patrons indoors. Dining tables are limited to four persons, and tables must be two meters apart. Fitness-goers must be three meters apart and classes limited to 25.
3. What you can not do: attend indoor cinemas, patronize personal care services that require removal of face coverings, participate in team sport games or scrimmages, gather indoors with more than 10 people or outdoors with more than 25.
4. Religious services, weddings and funerals are limited to 30 per cent capacity indoors (100 people outdoors), with distancing (and you can’t combine the two to increase numbers).
5. York Region councillors are calling for stricter enforcement, so you may see increased action on the part of municipal bylaw officers, public health inspectors and York Regional Police. The public is encouraged to contact York Region Public Health’s Health Connection at 1-800-361-5653, local municipalities, or Access York at 1-877-464-9675 if concerned about violations.
