Vaughan firefighters are battling a "fully involved" two-alarm fire at a residence in Kleinburg during the late afternoon of Nov. 12.

Vaughan Fire and Rescue Services arrived at a residence on Greenbrooke Drive at approximately 3:05 p.m. to find a structure fully engulfed in flames.

The fire is deemed under control but Vaughan Fire & Rescue crews will continue to work at the scene for several hours.

Plumes of heavy black smoke could be seen from several kilometres away from the scene.

Construction workers had left the scene around 1:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

The house was in the "latter stages" of construction, according to Deputy Chief Grant Moffatt.

He said the house is destroyed but commended crews for containing the blaze to a single structure in the residential subdivision.

"There was heavy fire involvement in the basement," he said. "Our initial crews determined to make a quick extinguish. We went to a defensive attack to contain the fire to the existing home.

"There is no significant damage to the homes on either side.

York Regional Police has closed Weston Road from Teston Road to Stanton Avenue indefinitely.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

It is expected the Ontario Fire Marshal will be summoned to investigate.
