YRT rolls out new express route to Finch station for Markham residents

A new express route to Finch station for Markham commuters is among York Region Transit changes taking effect Nov. 1.

YRT continually adjusts its bus routes and schedules to meet changing customer demand.

Route 305 will connect the community of Box Grove in the City of Markham to the Finch GO Bus Terminal in the City of Toronto.

Offering an easy connection to the TTC Subway and GO Transit services, the new bus will operate Monday to Friday during morning and afternoon rush hours.

As an Express service, Route 305 has limited stops and will travel on Hwy. 407 to get to the terminal.

York Region Public Health has also released a number of YRT and TTC bus routes to assist with contact tracing after a public transit rider tested positive for COVID-19.

The confirmed case had taken mostly YRT routes in the Vaughan area, but a couple of TTC routes including Finch station from Oct. 15 to 17.

Public health was notified of the confirmed case on Oct. 22 and has reported the risk of exposure as being “low” to the general public. It said the individual who tested positive for the coronavirus wore a mask during all bus trips.

To help with contact tracing, public health has released the following bus routes and is asking anyone who may have used public transit on these dates and times to monitor for new or worsening signs and symptoms of the virus.

Oct. 15

YRT Route 85 from Rutherford Rd. and Ilan Ramon Blvd. to Vaughan Mills Station at around 7:30 a.m.

YRT Route 4 from Vaughan Mills Station to Bathurst St. and Major Mackenzie Dr. at around 6:45 p.m.

YRT Route 88 from Bathurst St. and Major Mackenzie Dr. to Rutherford Rd. and Ilan Roman Blvd. at around 7:15 p.m.

Oct. 16

YRT Route 85 from Rutherford Rd. and Illan Ramon Blvd. to Vaughan Mills Station at around 8:20 a.m. YRT Route 20 from Jane St. and Locke St. to Vaughan Mills Station at around 6:30 p.m.

YRT Route 85 from Vaughan Mills Station to Rutherford Rd. and Ilan Roman Blvd. at around 7:30 p.m.

Oct. 17

YRT Route 88 from Bathurst St. and Lebovic Campus Dr. to Bathurst St. and Steeles Avenue West at about 10:50 a.m.

TTC Route 7 southbound from Greenwin Village Rd. and Bathurst St. to 555 Finch Ave. W. at about 11:30 a.m. to 11:40 a.m.

TTC Route 7 northbound from Bathurst St. and Finch Avenue West to Bathurst St. and Steeles Avenue West at about 2:30 p.m. to 2:40 p.m.

YRT Route 88 from Finch Go Bus Terminal to Bathurst Street and Lebovic Campus Drive at approximately 3 p.m.
