Since June 19, Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua issued the first directive under the City’s Emergency Measures Bylaw to allow local eating establishments and banquet halls to temporarily expand or establish additional patios until Nov. 1, while maintaining physical distancing. Local Tim Hortons restaurant owners throughout Vaughan, Richmond Hill and surrounding areas, along with their staff and customers raised $82,918.16 for Hospice Vaughan. For the last three years, 56 local restaurants have supported Hospice Vaughan through the Smile Cookie Campaign, raising a total of $240,000. Due to COVID-19, Hospice Vaughan’s programs and services have seen a 2 per cent demand increase, and as Hospice Vaughan prepares to open the doors to its new 10-bed Hospice palliative care centre, the support of the community has never been more important. Hospice Vaughan is grateful to Tim Hortons and to the community for their tremendous generosity throughout the Smile CookieCampaign.

The city saw 323 units being sold in August, 388 in July and 35 in June. Richmond Hill came second, with 21 condos sold in August, 32 in July and 35 in June. Markham won the bronze medal at 14 units sold in August, nine in July and 21 in June.
