When the province announced York Region was going back to Stage 2 due to an uptick in COVID-19 cases, it meant fewer services would be available in Whitchurch-Stouffville, but not all town facilities are closed.
In accordance with provincial guidelines, the town closed Lebovic Centre for the Performing Arts' indoor fitness centre including fitness studios and the gymnasium.
But the following facilities and programs remain open with little or no new restrictions:
Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum and Community Centre with a restriction of 10 people; arenas (with new restrictions to be determined); the Leisure Centre pool (no new restrictions); and Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library (no new restrictions).
In York Region, the number of cases and hospitalizations are currently trending upwards and further action is required to help stop the spread of the virus in this community.
From Oct. 3 to Oct. 9, York Region's case rate increased by 49 per cent to 38.7 per 100,000 people, above the provincial average.
