Mayors and chairs of municipalities across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area launched the #AskYourselfGTHA campaign on Friday.
The 11 largest municipal governments in the area say this campaign, which will be used on social media, will be used to help stop the spread of COVID-19 by making safe decisions.
The campaign encourages residents to share the images on their own social media to help get the “message out to their friends and followers.”
“The campaign stresses the importance of everyone doing what we need to do to protect ourselves and others during COVID-19,” reads a statement from the mayors and chairs.
“It encourages residents to help stop the spread and keep themselves and others safe by making the right choice in their own lives.”
The campaign was designed by the City of Toronto, and has been shared with the other municipalities of the GTHA.
Municipalities include Toronto, Brampton, Markham, Mississauga, Oshawa, and Vaughan.
This isn’t the only way mayors are using social media to combat COVID-19 spread.
Toronto mayor John Tory has also began using TikTok to get his message about public health across to youth. At the time of publication, his latest message was viewed over 100,000 times.
