There will be no GO train service on the Stouffville Line between Oct. 16 and 18.

Metrolinx is closing the tracks for the weekend to accommodate construction at the Milliken GO station, which includes a track shift and a new temporary platform in preparation for a major transformation over the next two years.

When the work is completed by the end of 2022, customers will have access to a new second track and platform, a renovated existing platform, vehicle underpass and two new pedestrian tunnels with elevators.

"These major changes will make the station more accessible, but, for now, they will temporarily change the way customers access the train platform," said Metrolinx spokesperson Nitish Bissonauth.

Crews will be working over the weekend to build a new, temporary platform and must close the track since the work can only be completed when trains aren’t running.

For those usually running the rails that means the northbound 7:14 p.m. trip from Union Station -- Mount Joy will be extended to Lincolnville and the last northbound trip will be at 8:14 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16.

After the last train, GO bus services will be available from Union Station and run express to Unionville GO and then makes all stops to Lincolnville GO.

The last southbound train from Mount Joy GO will be at 7:35 p.m. After the last train, GO bus service will be available from Mount Joy GO to Unionville GO and then run express to Union Station Bus Terminal.

On Saturday and Sunday, GO bus service will be available northbound and southbound between Lincolnville GO or Mount Joy GO and Union Station.

Customers are advised to plan ahead and check the schedules online. Presto users are also reminded to tap on the device when boarding and exiting the GO bus and not to tap on the machines at the station.

A new entrance to the temporary west platform of the Milliken station will be open as of Monday, Oct. 19 when GO train service resumes on the Stouffville line.
