Although he’s no longer mayor, Tony Van Bynen’s Mayor in the Square idea will live on.
Residents can watch, virtually, the unveiling of an art installation known as the Community Living Room in an area of Riverwalk Commons called Van Bynen Square on Sept. 26 at 2 p.m.
Van Bynen held his Mayor in the Square public engagement sessions during his 12 years as mayor, before he retired in 2018.
He now serves as Newmarket-Aurora MP.
Due to the provincial government’s COVID-19 restrictions limiting the number of people gathering outside to 25, the public is not invited to the unveiling.
But residents can watch it on the town’s Facebook Live link on its Facebook page.
Van Bynen will attend the event with his family and town representatives.
