Wondering what’s going in Aurora these days?

Here are four things that might interest you:

Look for your recreation guide in the Sept. 24 edition of The Banner. The Fall 2020 Community Services Program Guide is filled with programs and activities for the entire family. The town is looking forward to welcoming residents back to its spaces amid COVID-19. It has made adjustments to its programs and facilities to keep residents safe. You will be able to view the guide online at aurora.ca/recguide beginning the week of Sept. 21. Registration for fall classes begins Sept. 28.

A six-storey rental apartment building has been proposed for 16005-16055 Bayview Ave. at the northeast corner of Bayview and St. John’s Sideroad in the T&T Supermarket plaza. The proposal calls for 79 units and 119 parking spaces. Meanwhile, a seven-storey condo building has been proposed at 15516 Leslie St. If approved, the building on the west side of Leslie north of Holladay Drive and south of St. John’s Sideroad would contain 137 units and 201 underground parking spaces. The two developments were on the Sept. 15 public planning agenda and have been referred to a future planning meeting. Council will decide whether to approve them at a future date.

Want to have your say on a possible new town pool? A draft aquatics feasibility study is now available and the town is asking residents for feedback regarding the current use and proposed development concepts. Share your thoughts and take the online survey at engageaurora.ca/afs.

The town is now offering e-billing for water/wastewater bills. Residents and businesses can now elect to receive their water and wastewater bills electronically through email. This option is an environmentally friendly choice that saves on paper and preserves trees. You will always have the option to switch back to paper bills at any time by emailing water@aurora.ca.
