Newmarket will #GoBlueforAlz in support of those with Alzheimer's

Several York Region communities will light up landmarks on Monday, Sept. 21 for World Alzheimer's Day

Communities across York Region are honouring the more than 17,000 residents living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias (ADOD) by proclaiming Monday, Sept. 21 as World Alzheimer's Day and lighting a landmark up in blue.

For the second year in a row, a provincewide campaign titled #GoBlueforAlz will see landmarks lit up in blue in support of people impacted by this fatal disease. For every person diagnosed with ADOD, another 10 to 12 people are directly impacted. While not a normal part of aging, age is the No. 1 risk factor for developing this disease. There is no cure.

The following York Region communities will be proclaiming Monday, Sept. 21 as World Alzheimer's Day and/or lighting up a landmark in blue to show York Region residents impacted by dementia their community supports them:
