Vaughan’s Sept. 15 public hearing deals with requests for high-density residential projects

For all of the active citizens or those who need to pitch in their input, the City of Vaughan will resume its public hearings, starting Sep. 15.

All deputation requests and written submissions must be received by noon on the last business day before each meeting.

For the Sep. 15 hearing, so far there are four agendas that focus on official plan amendments in hopes of building residential buildings.

The first one on the agenda is a request for an official land amendment to build 1,115 residential units within two 47 and 49-storey residential towers (Towers A and B), on a shared four-storey podium comprising amenity areas and residential units, and four levels of underground parking extending beneath a proposed private driveway accessed from Doughton Road.

The second request is seeking approval to permit a proposed development consisting of four mixed-use buildings divided into two development blocks. The north block would contain two residential towers (Towers A and B, 40 and 44 storeys) and the south block would contain two residential towers (Towers C and D, 44 and 49 storeys) each on a five-storey podium and separated by a courtyard.

The third is to permit a proposed development consisting of buildings ranging in height from eight to 45 storeys, with a total of 3,962 apartment units, a retail gross floor area of 4,273 metres squared and a Floor Space Index of 5.84 times the area of the subject lands.

The fourth is for a development consisting of a 21-storey residential apartment building with 530 units and seven levels of parking containing 549 parking spaces and 318 bicycle parking spaces.

8. Effective Governance and Oversight Task Force Committee Meeting -- Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 5 p.m.

9. Older Adult Task Force Committee Meeting -- Monday, Sept. 28 at 3 p.m.

10. Ready, Resilient and Resourceful Committee Meeting -- Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 10:30 a.m.

11. Council Meeting -- Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m.

12. Accessibility Advisory Committee Meeting -- Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m.
