Bringing the heart home was Alec Cloke’s goal when he decided to honour his wife’s memory in his home community of East Gwillimbury. Cloke, a decades-long Queensville resident and founder of Tiny Seedlings, a community initiative provided by United Soils Management, recently shared his wish with council to donate $100,000 toward East Gwillimbury’s new Health and Active Living Plaza in the name of his wife Margaretha Cloke, otherwise known as Marg.

She was an avid reader and actively involved in her community, which made Alec’s decision to join East Gwillimbury’s journey to build this new staple for the community an easy one.

“On behalf of council, we are humbled to receive this generous donation from Tiny Seedlings in the name of Margaretha Cloke. Marg was a beloved wife, teacher, and friend. We are truly honoured to help keep her memory alive in our new library facility," Mayor Virginia Hackson said. “Tiny Seedlings’ donation will be used to help create a space where children and adults can learn and explore new worlds through literature, just as Marg did.”

United Soils Management is located in Whitchurch-Stouffville. They create free, no cost programs for children and their parents, as a way to give back to the community.

Town staff revealed earlier this year that the estimated cost of the Health and Active Living Plaza is $50 million.
