SmartCentres Vaughan Northwest is a proposed infill, master-planned community at the northeast corner of two major arterial roads: Weston Road and Major Mackenzie Drive West in Vaughan. This community is being planned with the same core principles of transit connectivity, quality open spaces and world-class architecture that SmartCentres has established throughout its development projects, including the nearby SmartVMC development at the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre.
The infill development site is 6.3 acres, encompassing the entirety of vacant lands within a larger 45-acre property that features a Walmart anchored open-air shopping centre and brand new SmartStop Self Storage facility, which is currently under construction. The proposed infill development site is also immediately south of an 12 acre parcel of land proposing 179 townhome units being developed, and to be built, as a joint-venture partnership between SmartLiving by SmartCentres and Fieldgate.
The site has immediate access to York Region Transit (“YRT”) Bus Route with direct access to the Maple GO station. In addition, this Bus Route will transfer immediately east of the site through the future VIVA Rapid Transit Station at Major Mackenzie Drive and Jane Street, with direct access down Jane to the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and TTC Subway. The site is also approximately 1km West of the new, state-of-the-art Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, which is the first ever "smart" hospital in Canada.
This landmark community development is proposing a total of six (6) buildings, including two (2) seniors' residences and four (4) residential buildings built by SmartLiving, SmartCentres REIT's residential division.
