Improvements to a stretch of Leslie Street in Richmond Hill may make travel a little slower for motorists over the next several weeks.
Construction on a stretch of roadway from 19th Avenue to the CN Rail tracks south of Stouffville Road is due to start the week of Aug. 24.
The project includes removing and replacing existing asphalt to improve the strength of the roadway to accommodate anticipated heavier traffic usage of Leslie Street.
Construction is expected to be completed in mid-October.
Leslie Street will remain open to traffic during construction and access to residences and businesses will be maintained.
However, traffic on Leslie Street will be reduced to one lane Monday to Saturday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Construction activities may occur outside of these hours and on weekends.
