In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Vaughan implemented a 90-day grace period for local businesses to renew their Vaughan business licence. On Monday, Aug. 31, this period will end and licences need to be renewed. Reminder notices will be sent to owners and licensees.

New businesses are still required to apply and obtain a business licence to operate. As Vaughan City Hall remains closed to the public to help stop the spread of COVID-19, applications may be submitted by email to bylaw@vaughan.ca, along with scanned copies of required documentation. Payments can be made by cheque and mailed to Vaughan City Hall at 2141 Major Mackenzie Dr., Vaughan, ON, L6A 1T1.

In support of licensed businesses, the City implemented a temporary patio program available to licensed eating establishments and banquet halls. Businesses looking to create a patio or expand their current patio to accommodate physical distancing requirements must apply for a permit. To begin the process, licensed businesses must complete an online registration form. Further information and eligibility are available on the City’s website.

Any inquiries or complaints can be reported to Access Vaughan. The inquiry will be referred to the Enforcement Services Unit for response and investigation.

The City continues to support local businesses and entrepreneurs with programs and services during this challenging time.
