Firefighters battle dump truck blaze in front of Vaughan fire station

Vaughan Fire and Rescue Services is battling a fully involved dump truck fire right in front of a fire station.

At around 4:45 p.m., firefighters were called to the scene at Fieldstone Drive and Weston Road.

Fieldstone has been closed off by York Regional Police from Weston to Pottery Place.

Traffic in both northbound and southbound lanes on Weston has been impacted by heavy smoke causing increased congestion in that area, Vaughan Fire Chief Deryn Rizzi said.

Firefighters have initiated a "fast attack" Rizzi said, adding that they are getting water on the fire as soon as possible.

The cause of fire is currently undetermined.
