With more than 112 crosswalk locations throughout the city, it was announced Tuesday, Aug. 18 that there's a push to hire school crossing guards for the 2020/21 year.
The city said it needs “permanent and standby crossing guards to service all locations.”
The city recruits, trains and hires crossing guards, conducts pedestrian studies, selects crosswalk locations and installs appropriate signage and pavement markings, according to a city statement.
While dubbing a school crossing guard as a “rewarding occupation” with “flexible work schedule,” the city gave an overview of how a typical day would look like:
Schools are set to reopen in September.
