      The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) has completed remedial repairs to the Pefferlaw Dam truss bridge to install the stoplogs for the 2020 season.
      JUST THE  FACTS

        - Stoplogs are installed and removed  each spring and fall;

        - Due to the deteriorating condition  of the dam and bridge, it was deemed unsafe to install the stoplogs. Upon  further inspection, conducting remedial welding work to the truss bridge would  allow for the stoplogs to be installed;

        - Welding and repairs started at the  beginning of August was expected to take a couple weeks, depending on water  flow;

        - The pedestrian bridge remains  closed;

        - Estimates to bring the bridge up  to current 75-year standards is between $500,000 and $600,000 depending on  either remediation or full replacement of the bridge;

        - The LSRCA, together with the town,  plan to host community consultation meetings to decide the future status of the  Pefferlaw Dam. Those consultations are to start in the fall;

        - The budget for the repairs range between $5,000 and $6,000, shared between the LSRCA and the Town of Georgina.
