Vaughan briefly lays off roughly 1,100 city workers involving COVID-19

The Town of Vaughan advised York Region Media it”temporarily” laid off roughly 1, 2 100 workers because of”lack of work in certain sections” after announcing a state of crisis because of COVID-19.

The two Ontario and Vaughan announced a state of crisis March 17.

Following these”extraordinary conditions,” that the City explained the choice was”challenging but essential.”

“The COVID-19 pandemic and announced State of Emergency at Vaughan along with the Province of Ontario have affected City services in several of unforeseen ways, including the temporary closing of City facilities into the public along with the cancellation of a few applications,” it stated.

Though the City has been run crucial services such as fire and emergency response, waste group, water/wastewater solutions, to bylaw and enforcement solutions, it states,”As such scenario evolves, it’ll be essential for the City to keep on analyzing the operational and fiscal consequences of the days.”

“The momentary lay off signify various positions from throughout the business,” it added.

On Aug. 5,” Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua explained that the majority of Vaughan’s centers, such as town hall, will stay closed to the public until Jan. 4, respectively 2021, also”possibly past”

The mayor explained the choice was left after”careful consideration”

It’s not only Vaughan that’s made this movement.

The Town of Richmond Hill has set off over just 1,000 part-time and contract personnel because of facility closures.

Additionally, Georgina laid off 48 part-time workers.
