Richmond Hill joined the Collision from Home conference to showcase the city’s most innovative companies from June 23 to 25.
Collision is North America’s fastest growing tech conference. It brings together the people and companies redefining the global tech industry.
Given the uncertainty facing a large number of public events around the world due to the progression of COVID-19, this year’s conference had been switched to Collision from Home.
During the virtual conference, Richmond Hill presented to international companies and delegates who want to learn about the city’s vibrant tech ecosystem and possibly partner or invest with their top innovators.
In 2019, Richmond Hill participated in the Collision conference in partnership with York Region, along with other innovative companies to highlight the vibrant and growing technology cluster in Richmond Hill.
“Richmond Hill continues to attract the best and brightest, with everything the city has to offer residents and businesses,” said Mayor Dave Barrow.
He pointed out that Collision at Home was a great example of how Richmond Hill was connecting the city’s most innovative companies with potential partners and investors from across the globe.
With over 5,000 head offices and companies like Applanix, BMW Canada, Compugen, Laipac Technology and Wysdom.AI located in Richmond Hill, the city has become the core of Canada’s largest technology cluster.
“Richmond Hill is the smart place for business,” said Barrow. “The city is also home to disruptive innovators in key business sectors.”
Within three days, Collision from Home drew over 32,000 attendees from 100 countries. More than 450 speakers, including tech founders, global policy-makers and cultural icons, shared their views on marketing and media, developers and data, business development and lifestyle.
Although it’s a virtual event, Collision from Home brought up ideas to help recover businesses from this economic interruption. Cities like Richmond Hill can promote its thriving tech sector, while innovative startups can meet investors and look for the next big thing together.
Through online presentations and speeches, attendees got the chance to learn about the trend post-COVID-19 as well. One participant, Alyssa from Accela Inc., said it should help her to define her professional vision for the next two years.
