Georgina Mayor Margaret Quirk

York Region and the town moved into Stage 3 on July 24, and with that, more facilities, services and businesses have reopened. It’s good to see more local businesses reopen, however there are changes as you enter stores, engage service providers, and go to restaurants and gyms. Thanks go to those business owners who have worked hard to put processes in place to keep their customers safe.

Stage 3 has allowed playgrounds to reopen and De La Salle and Pefferlaw Lions Park playgrounds are now open. Legislated inspections continue at other locations, and they will be opening soon. Please remember that playground equipment is not sanitized and physical distancing is to be maintained.

Garage sales are now permitted and everyone is reminded to respect physical distancing guidelines and use good hand hygiene when coming and going from the sales. Visit https://www.georgina.ca/living-here/licenses-permits-and-commissioning/garage-sales to learn more.

De La Salle Beach has reopened with restrictions on the activities within the park and beach. For all the details visit https://www.georgina.ca/getting-active/water/beach-sites georgina.ca/beaches.   The town continues to monitor this reopening to determine if additional waterfront parks can be reopened. We want to ensure that any additional reopenings can be done safely.

While the size of gatherings both inside and outdoors has increased, please keep in mind that physical distancing must still be maintained with those outside your “social circle.” Hosting or attending social gatherings should be done in a careful manner. Small changes can help ensure that you and your guests remain safe, by planning the seating in advance to ensure the six-foot distance is available, supplying hand sanitizer or wipes for your guests and asking them to bring their own supplies. If you are not feeling well, stay home.

We have come a long way through the pandemic and by working together we will continue to move forward. Stay safe and stay strong Georgina.
