The Regional Municipality of York is implementing a temporary road closure of Major Mackenzie Drive between Islington Avenue and Pine Valley Drive for two nights, Tuesday July 28 and Wednesday, July 29, 2020 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Local access will be maintained for properties in the closed section.
The road closures are needed to relocate a temporary concrete barrier along the new section of Major Mackenzie Drive to protect the public and workers during construction of the north half of the roadway.
Improvements being made to Major Mackenzie Drive in this area include widening from two lanes to six lanes. This road work is part of the overall improvement project to Major Mackenzie Drive from Hwy 50 to Hwy 400, anticipated to be completed in 2021.
