An ongoing construction project will close a stretch of Major Mackenzie Drive in Vaughan for two nights in late July.
The stretch of roadway from Islington Avenue to Pine Valley Drive will be closed to permit work on a project that will eventually provide a new connection to Hwy. 427, according to the Region of York.
The roadway will be closed July 28 and 29 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Local access will be maintained during the period.
The project is part of transforming the roadway from two to six lanes from Hwy. 50 to Hwy. 400.
Work also includes bridge construction at the East Humber River and Purpleville Creek.
Future projects include the relocation of utility poles, installation of wildlife culverts and additional construction of the storm sewer, curb and embankments for the north side of the roadway.
The entire project is anticipated to be completed in the fall of 2021.
