Thanks to COVID-19, it’s been months since residents have been able to get out and see a movie.

That’s why it comes as a pleasant surprise that Aurora is launching its first drive-in movie.

On July 24, residents will be able to watch a family-friendly film on the big screen from the comfort of their cars.

Pack up your vehicle with family members and snacks and arrive at the Stronach Aurora Recreation Complex parking lot at 8 p.m. to get your spot.

It is free but there are a couple of catches.

The event is only open to Aurora residents.

Due to limited space, online pre-registration is required at aurora.ca/moviesinthepark. You can tag your drive-in photos using #AuroraMovies.

Registration is required for the driver of the vehicle only, not the passengers. One registration per vehicle.

Residents can only attend if they are in an enclosed vehicle (not a motorcycle or convertible with open roof). Large RVs, campers, motorhomes and semis will not be admitted.

Once parked, cars will need to be turned off for the duration of the movie.

All participants are asked to stay in their vehicles unless needing to use the washroom. A portable washroom will be available. Adhere to physical distancing rules while in line.

If you or anyone in your family is feeling unwell, don’t attend the event.
