York Region is making improvements to a large stretch of Woodbine Avenue.
Just the facts:
- Road work is being done along Woodbine Avenue from south of Mount Albert Road, north to Hwy. 404;
- Construction started in May and is expected to be complete by the fall;
- Road improvements include: removing and replacing the current asphalt; building two entrances for East Gwillimbury’s operations yard; and replacing old culvert infrastructure;
- Intersections at Mount Albert Road and Queensville Sideroad will also be updated with new oversized traffic lights and signs, pedestrian signals and push buttons, upgraded walkways and tactile plates at each corner to ensure safe crossing;
- Woodbine Avenue will be intermittently reduced to one lane in both north and south directions Monday to Saturday to accommodate construction;
- On average, this section of Woodbine Avenue carries about 18,500 vehicles daily;
- The cost of this project is about $7.5 million.
