Construction work on the King Horn Bridge on King Road, just west of Jane Street, is underway and will require a series of brief, temporary road closures and lane reductions in the area this summer.
JUST THE FACTS:
- Bridge work began in the spring and is expected to be completed in 2021.
- During construction, the number of lanes will be reduced from four to two
- There will be some temporary road closures, lasting less than 10 minutes, on King Road happening throughout the summer to allow for the bridge deck to be raised and lowered to replace bearings. The closures will happen around mid-day.
- The Region of York will provide advance notice prior to each closure.
- Construction work will be halted from fall 2020 to spring 2021. During that time, all lanes will be reopened.
- Motorists should also note that construction work is also underway on the East Humber River Bridge on Jane Street, just around the corner, and a stretch of that road has been reduced to one lane. That work is expected to be completed in the fall.
