It's scorching outside and that means it is time to take extra precaution. Effective immediately the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville has issued a fire ban. All open-air burning, including recreational fires, is prohibited anywhere within the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.
This ban will remain in effect until such time as conditions permit. This ban has been issued for the protection of property, public safety, and the safety of the firefighters that would respond to an incident started by the unlawful burning of materials.
The ban applies to all open-air burning. Appliances fuelled by propane or natural gas, such as BBQs, are exempt.
With seasonal crops being harvested, farmers are encouraged to exercise extreme caution when operating equipment, as field fires can quickly overtake equipment, neighbouring crops and spread quickly into adjacent woodlands.
