If you are home these days, creating more waste to put out at the curb or if your bins have just seen better days, this may be the week you want to buy new containers.

From June 1 to 7, the Town of Newmarket is selling blue boxes, green bins and kitchen catchers at a reduced cost as part of Environment Week.

Blue boxes will be sold for $6 each, rather than the usual $10.

Green bins will cost $15 each, a $5 discount from the usual $20 fee.

Kitchen catchers will go for $3 each, rather than the usual $6.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, all town buildings and facilities remain closed so if you are interested, either email or call the town.

The email is info@newmarket.ca. Orders must include the purchaser’s name, address and phone number. Town staff will call the resident to obtain credit card payment information. Do not include credit card information in the email.

The phone number is 905-895-5193. Call Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

GFL will deliver the items within five to 10 business days.

At this time, composters are unavailable for purchase through the Town.
