The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville is launching a modified in-person summer camp program. The camps will provide care, education and recreational activities for children ages six to 12 years of age.

The summer camps will begin July 20 and run for seven weeks. The town is also implementing a take-home “Camp-in-the-box” for parents and children wishing to conduct camp activities from their home. The “Camp-in-a-box” activities will begin July 13 and will have several options to choose from.

Details about camp registration and locations will be available online as of Friday, June 26, and registration will begin online on Tuesday, July 7. Camp registration is available to Whitchurch-Stouffville residents until July 17 and then will be opened to non-residents, space permitting, on July 18. Registration will continue until camps are full.

The town also announced that it is opening the indoor pool at the Whitchurch-Stouffville Leisure Centre for the town's residents. The pool will also open July 20, and residents will be required to pre-register for pool activities and programs at townofws.ca/wsplayonline. Further details about pool reservations and aquatic programs will be available online by Monday, June 29.

The pool and the reception desk will be the only portions of the Leisure Centre open to the public.

The in-person camp program will follow all guidelines and health protocols set out by the Province of Ontario and York Region Public Health, including physical distancing and smaller camp sizes. The town has developed an operational guide to support day camp operations to ensure that all necessary procedures are in place to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 among participants, staff and other contacts. Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols will also be implemented.
