In our ongoing efforts to continue business as usual during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to continue to advance building and planning applications, the Town will now also be hosting virtual public planning meetings beginning on June 29, 2020.

This alternative form of meeting will allow members of the public to engage in proposed applications from their own homes. The purpose of these meetings is to allow the public to learn about development applications and provide their feedback.

Normally, these applications are heard as part of a committee of the whole meeting, however the meetings in June and July will be part of a council meeting.

Newmarket Council will not be making any final decisions at these meetings, and all written and verbal comments will be given to planning staff to consider. A report will then be provided to council at a future committee of the whole or council meeting.

The following public planning meetings are scheduled to take place in June and July:

The below applications have been confirmed for consideration at the June 29 meeting:

Applications for consideration at the July 27 meeting have not yet been confirmed. Once this information is available, it can be found at newmarket.ca/planning and selecting ‘current applications’.

All meetings will be live streamed and broadcasted at newmarket.ca/meetings. An archived video recording of the meeting will also be available online after the meeting.

Residents are encouraged to get involved in the public planning process by submitting written comments or participating in a live deputation through video conferencing during the meeting. To learn more about how to get involved, please email clerks@newmarket.ca and include your contact information (name and phone number).

Residents who would like more information on the topics being discussed at the virtual public planning meetings can email planning@newmarket.ca or visit newmarket.ca/planning.
