Newmarket is poised to meet its stage 2 reopening with open arms this Friday, but it's important to keep in mind some restrictions are still in place.

More businesses across York Region will be throwing open their doors, which means more employees will head back to work, families can visit loved ones in long-term care and retirement homes, and we'll be able to return to some of the activities we enjoyed before COVID-19 gripped the community.

The Region of York is highlighting some of the things you can and can't do in stage 2. It's a good idea to call ahead, as not all businesses and amenities will be opening, and bookings and reservations are required for most.

Next, we can look forward to stage 3, when we'll see the reopening of most remaining workplaces and community spaces, according to the province. Large public gatherings, however, will continue to be restricted.

Public health advice and workplace safety guidance will also remain in place.

As we advance to stage 2 reopening, York Region Public Health is reminding you that the virus is still active, so continue to take precautions out there, including:
