City expands online permit options

The City of Vaughan has added more permit options to its online permit portal to further enable citizens and building industry professionals to apply, track and pay for permits digitally with a secure login. Permits for pools and grading for sheds, home additions and more can now be submitted and approved through the platform at vaughan.ca/DEPermits.

New to the portal is the opportunity to apply for engineering grading permits, including:

• building an inground pool
• infill home construction (including re-builds and new homes on vacant lots)
• new home construction (subdivision)
• home additions
• accessory structures like sheds, cabanas, side-door entrances 

For pool and residential grading permits, full permit fees are collected at the time of application. For subdivision grading permits submitted in batches, there is an initial fee of $100 per permit that can be paid via the portal and the remaining total for the batch submission can be paid by credit card if the total does not exceed $1,000. Amounts exceeding $1,000 can be paid by cheque and mailed to Vaughan City Hall.
