Hundreds support Black Lives Matter in Vaughan

Last Saturday, June 6, approximately 300 Vaughan residents participated in a peaceful rally in support of Black Lives Matter.

The rally ran along Rutherford Road. There was an eight-minute vigil at the Jane Street and Rutherford intersection, honouring the life of George Floyd.

The rally commenced at the York Regional Police station in Maple.The event was organized by Vaughan African Canadian Association.

Representatives from Parents of Black Children and other black community groups in York Region made speeches. We also heard from York Regional Police.

Other cultural groups were there in solidarity, including Italian-Canadians for Black Lives.
