The City of Vaughan, Ont. has introduced a new digital permitting portal that will enable residents and building industry professionals to apply, track and pay for building permits online.

Different types of building permits, ranging from small decks and accessory structures to large industrial and tall buildings, can be submitted. The platform also offers users 24/7 access to Vaughan’s permitting information.

Through the tool, which was developed in response to COVID-19 and city services being transitioned online, registered users can view previously submitted permits, apply for new permits and pay for a portion of approved permits virtually with a secure login. The remaining portion can be paid by credit card, as long as it does not exceed $1,000, indicates a release.

With the intake of digital permit applications, the city is now equipped to electronically review residential and commercial plans as part of the building permit submission process, adds the release. The use of the portal creates a fully paperless submission process.

The portal is available at vaughan.ca/PermitPortal.
