Construction ahead for regional roads in Markham, Richmond Hill

There may be fewer vehicles on the roads, but a number of major intersections will be clogged with construction as the Region of York goes ahead with a number of intersection improvements in the cities of Markham and Richmond Hill.

That will mean temporary lane closures and relocation of some bus stops for those still running the roads and taking transit during the current lockdown due to COVID-19 closures.

A major overhaul of Leslie Street between West/East Beaver Creek Road and John Street in Markham and Richmond Hill includes improvements to:

According to the Region of York, utility relocation is now complete and temporary signals are currently being installed.

Work is scheduled to begin by the end of April and is anticipated to be completed by the end of September.
