Safe at home doesn’t necessarily mean stuck at home.
Many cultural centres, art galleries and museums across York Region have opened their doors and created virtual visits.
From the comfort of your home, you can enjoy art exhibits and curated crafts to do at home with supplies found around the house.
Skylight Gallery -- Aurora:
- After months of monochromatic shades of grey, the Skylight Gallery is bursting with spring colours with its online exhibit, on now until April 30, featuring artwork form the Society of York Region Artists. The town is also working on a spring online art show.
Aurora Museum and Archives -- Aurora
- Town Park: A Community Storybook is an online exhibit looking at Aurora’s Town Park. For more than 150 years, the small plot of land has played host to thousands of visitors as a meeting place, celebration site, sports field and military command post.

- "Swift and Bold: The Queen York Rangers": The documentary looks at how deep Aurora’s military run, from the York Militia to the First American Regiment and today’s Queen’s York Rangers.
Sharon Temple National Historic Site and Museum -- East Gwillimbury:
- Sharon Temple has launched a Learn from Home series featuring a collection of activities based on the historical importance of the Sharon Temple. The activities are connected to various curriculum teachings including math and science, writing and visual arts.
Varley Art Gallery -- Markham:
- The gallery has created a variety of family-friendly art activities.
McMichael Canadian Art Collection -- Vaughan:
- The art gallery hosts a collection of weekly art-themed activates for children and youth.
Latcham Art Centre -- Whitchurch-Stouffville:
- The art centre hosts an online Homegrown Collection, where residents are invited to contribute to the community sketchbook. Each week, patrons are prompted with three different art suggestions and a community sketchbook is posted by the end of the week.
