The Ontario government has ordered all non-essential workplaces to close down by 11:59 PM tonight to help break the chain of transmission of COVID-19.

All City facilities will remain closed to the public until further notice. City-produced events have been cancelled through to May 15 and will be rescheduled, as appropriate. Residents are encouraged to use our online services at markham.ca/OnlineServices.

Everyone is urged to stay home and practice physical distancing --also known as social distancing --to help protect themselves and their loved ones. Keep at least two-metres distance and suspend all non-essential travel.

Residents are also reminded that playgrounds should not be used. Playground equipment is not sanitized.

Although the delivery of our services have been modified, our elected officials and City staff are still hard at work, and are committed to continuing to provide essential services to our community.

Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation go out to our healthcare workers and those working on the front lines, who are working around the clock to help combat and get us through COVID-19.

Together, we will do our part to help break the chain of transmission of COVID-19 in our community, and protect our seniors and vulnerable populations.
